Back-to-School Gift Ideas for Teachers

Teacher Back-to-School Gift Ideas

With only a couple weeks left of summer, it’s time to start thinking about the beginning of a new school year. Start off the semester right; show appreciation to your new teachers with these thoughtful, cost-effective gifts.

Pencil bouquets

Snag a few of these jars from the Target dollar section or your local dollar store to make the perfect teacher gift. Here are the supplies you’ll need:

  • Glass jar with the lid removed
  • Sharpened No. 2 pencils
  • Baker’s twine (or yarn)
  • A hole punch
  • Free printable download to make the tag — click here!

Candy pencils

Stack chocolates inside a plastic tube to make a delicious treat! Simply place a Hershey’s Kiss chocolate upside down in the bottom of the container. This will represent the point of the pencil. Then, fill the tube with chocolate wrapped in gold or yellow foil (something to represent the color of the body of a pencil). After you fill up most of the tube with gold-wrapped candy, make sure you leave one space at the top for a red or pink chocolate (to represent the eraser).

Here’s what we like to use to represent the pencil’s body and eraser:

  • Ferrero Rocher – gold packaging
  • Godiva Milk Chocolate Truffles – red packaging

Who doesn’t love an on-the-go cup? This creative DIY gift idea works for just about anyone — but you can customize it to fit your teacher’s needs by adding relevant items inside the cup (e.g., mini sticky pads, Sharpie pens, candy, etc.). Include a little note inside the cup to make it more personal!

Sharpie trio

This gift is one of the most simple ideas, but one that teachers are sure to love. Colorful Sharpie markers are essential in the classroom! (Not to mention, many individual Sharpies go on sale before the school year starts.)

You’ll need only four things to make this gift:

  • Card stock paper
  • 3 Sharpie markers
  • A hole punch
  • Baker’s twine (or yarn)
